Went to see Pam Cofre (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=688967523&ref=ts) today at her booth at the Skokie Art Fair. Now we all know how wonderful her portrait paintings are, blah, blah, blah, etc. (just ask her), But set up right next to her was her husband Ivan and his amazing surreal photography. Pam gave me the tour since Ivan was off fetching Pam's lunch (he's a keeper!), so Pam explained a 'lil bit of the method behind the, soon to be Permanent Collection of The Art Institute of Chicago, photos. Apparently he sketches these out first, then to bring the vision to life, makes the costumes, builds the sets, finds the locations THEN then snaps the shutter. It's all in camera.
Here's one of my favorites- it looks like a still from some European Diabolique movie dream. Amazing!
