Artist Mom 4
Parents got divorced and we moved to Ann Arbor (and then Boulder) where Mom went back to school and got her phd in Clinical Psychology. I firmly believe the only reason for the degree was to now make everyone have to call her "Dr. O'Connell".
Below is an example of her abstract period where she would fill up a spoon with paint and drip/fling it at the canvas. Little art critic children would cruelly make fun of the seemingly haphazard creations. Mom would explain the hard part was not the execution, but the months she spent thinking about it. From this I learned a valuable lesson, to be a great artist you need to always be able to come up with a great line of bull.
